A Chakma ethnic man was abducted and killed by the Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO) terrorist group near the upper Naf River in the Palangkhali area of Ukhiya Upazila, Cox’s Bazar district, Bangladesh, on April 22.

The victim has been identified as U Thar Maung Sein, a resident of Lambaghuna in Teknaf Upazila. He was abducted by RSO members while searching for crabs near the Naf River at approximately 10:00 AM.

According to local sources, a Bangladeshi Muslim man was also abducted alongside U Thar Maung Sein. While the Muslim man was released after paying a ransom of 400,000 Taka, he witnessed U Thar Maung Sein being executed by the group.

Despite a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) post being located near the site of the abduction, the RSO group carried out the act with impunity.

Following the disappearance, the family of U Thar Maung Sein filed a missing person report at the Ukhiya Police Station on April 23.

This incident follows a pattern of violence by armed groups in the region. On March 31, the ARSA terrorist group abducted a man from a refugee camp in Teknaf and demanded 500,000 Taka.

Additionally, on November 25, 2025, ARSA members reportedly detained and tortured three Chakma women in Naikhongchhari, Bandarban. Local residents expressed growing concern over their safety, noting a lack of effective intervention from Bangladeshi authorities.
