The offensive conducted by the Arakan Army, which commenced on November 13, 2023, has now reached its two-year mark as of November 13, 2025. Seventeen days following the commencement of the Northern Brotherhood Alliance's Operation 1027 on November 13, 2023, the AA initiated a counter-offensive, successfully taking control of 15 townships.
In this conquest, the 15 townships were assaulted and seized one by one.
The timeline of the city capture battle is outlined as follows: Paletwa Township was taken on January 14, 2024; Pauktaw was overtaken on January 19, 2024; Mrauk-U Town was seized on February 8, 2024; Kyauktaw was captured on February 13, 2024; Myebon was acquired on February 15, 2024; and Munbya was secured on February 26, 2025. Ponnagyun was taken on March 4, 2024; Ramree was taken on March 11, 2024; Rathedaung was taken on March 17, 2024; Buthidaung was taken on May 18, 2024; and Thandwe was taken on September 5, 2024. Maungdaw was taken by the AA on December 8, 2024; Taungup was seized on December 4, 2024; Ann was overtaken on December 20, 2024; and Gwa was captured on December 29, 2024.
