Ann villager loses one leg in remnant landmine explosion

An inhabitant of the rural areas in Ann Township reportedly stepped on an unexploded landmine while heading to harvest bamboo in the mountains.
The individual is Ko Sai Htet Aung, a 22-year-old from Su Boke Pyin Taw village in Ann Township.
A villager reported that on June 3rd, while going to gather bamboo at the base of Pulaung Mountain in Ann Township, he stepped on an unexploded landmine left by military forces, which resulted in the loss of his leg.
"He traveled to the mountains to cut bamboo at 1:00 PM on June 3rd. That location is where soldiers were previously deployed. The military planted the mines. He stepped on the mine and amputated his leg," he stated.
