The Arakan Army (AA) released a statement on Tuesday, accompanied by photographic evidence, detailing the seizure of military equipment and the recovery of junta casualties following a major battle in Mindon Township, near the Rakhine-Magway border.

According to the statement, the weapons, ammunition, and bodies of Myanmar military soldiers were secured during intense clashes on September 20 and 21 near Point 948 Hill, close to Kan Kyo Village.

The released photographs depict more than 30 seized weapons alongside a significant cache of ammunition and military gear.

A military source close to the AA told Narinjara News that an entire junta column was completely annihilated during the engagement.

"Intense fighting broke out on September 20 when a terrorist military column launched a renewed offensive," the source stated. "During the clash, the AA successfully routed the column, seizing their weapons, ammunition, and recovering the bodies of the fallen."

Background of the Offensive

In the third week of September, the Myanmar military, which has maintained a presence of roughly 800 troops across the villages of Thaphan Yaung, Wet Kaw, and Pyaung, split its forces to launch an offensive. Their primary target was Kan Kyo Village, situated along the strategic Taline Taung–Thaphan Yaung mountain ridge road.

A junta tactical commander established a base in the foothills, deploying over 400 troops divided into multiple columns to advance up the mountain range.

Current Situation

Following the defeat of the advancing column near Kan Kyo Village, located just over four miles from the military's base in Thaphan Yaung, clashes remain highly volatile. The AA is reportedly conducting clearing operations to pursue and eliminate the remaining junta troops in the area.

Following the tactical victory, AA leadership issued official commendations and rewards to the soldiers who participated in the operation.
