The ethnic Arakan Army (AA) on Wednesday claimed to have repulsed a Myanmar military counteroffensive in Magwe Region’s Ngape Township near the Rakhine-Magwe border.
Deploying large numbers of troops, most of them conscripts, the regime has been trying to advance into Rakhine State—almost all of which has been liberated by the ethnic army—via the Ann-Padan Road, sparking intense clashes near the Rakhine-Magwe border in Ngape.
Ngape Township occupies a strategic location linking Magwe Region to Rakhine.
