Woman Injured in Myanmar Military Bombardment in Rathedaung Township
Narinjara, August 17, 2026
A 48-year-old woman was injured on Monday during a Myanmar military airstrike on Auk Zee Kaing village in Rathedaung Township.
The village sits directly across the river from the Myanmar army battalions stationed in Padleik, Sittwe Township—the capital of Arakan (Rakhine) State.
According to a statement from the Arakan Army (AA) News and Information department, the victim, Daw Than May Nu, sustained a bomb fragment injury to her forehead. The bombardment also destroyed three residential structures, including her home.

The military junta deployed a fighter jet to bomb Auk Zee Kaing village at approximately 11:50 a.m. today. Observers note that the military regime, having suffered heavy casualties in recent ground clashes with the AA, has increasingly targeted civilian villages across Arakan State using airstrikes.
This attack follows a similar incident yesterday, August 16, when the military air force bombed the Thandwe region.
That strike resulted in the deaths of a father and son, and left six other civilians injured.
