The leaders of another Karen armed group allied with Myanmar’s junta have been hit with U.S. sanctions for hosting cyber-scam operations.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury on Thursday announced that it has blacklisted the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (DKBA), which is active in southern Myawaddy Township, along with four of its senior leaders.
They are Saw Steel, the DKBA commander-in-chief, Saw Sein Win, an adjutant general, Saw San Aung, his chief of staff, and Sai Kyaw Hla, a brigadier general, and stand accused of supporting fraudulent investment schemes and other online scams that target U.S citizens.
