Two local civilian women were injured last night during an airstrike carried out by the military junta on the town of Anjanapura (formerly known as Minbya) in Arakan (Rakhine) State. The strike utilized a Y-12 aircraft.
The injured individuals are Ma Thein Nu Chay (29), from Myothit Ward, and Daw Nu Nu Chay (44), from Ward 2 (Gan Ma Village) in Anjanapura.
A local resident told Narinjara that at approximately 11:45 PM yesterday (October 21), a Y-12 aircraft dropped at least six bombs across several wards in Anjanapura, including an area near Phayatagar Road in Myothit Ward.
"One bomb fell in Myothit Ward, where we live. Another landed near the futsal sports ground on the road to Myaung Bwe. Bombs also hit other locations in the town. Because they were dropping bombs all around the town, we couldn't sleep the entire night," she said.
Bombs landed and exploded in multiple areas, including Phaya Taka Road in Myothit Ward, two streets in Ganma Ward, Pyidawtha Ward, and the sites of the former Township General Administration Office and the former Forestry Office.
During the attacks, Ma Thein Nu Chay sustained an injury below her chin, while Daw Nu Nu Chay suffered an injury to her left breast. Several residential homes were also damaged.
This follows prior attacks in the area: on the night of September 26, the military junta conducted an aerial bombing in the Old Market (Zay Haung Paing) ward of Anjanapura, injuring a male civilian.
Similarly, on the morning of September 28, a Y-12 aircraft bombed Swan Ye village in Anjanapura Township, leaving eight civilians injured and damaging residential buildings and the area surrounding a local hospital.
