Three Family Members, Including Child, Killed by Military Shelling in Kyaukgyi

A Myanmar military shelling attack killed three members of a family, including a 9-year-old child, in Kyaukgyi Township, Bago Region.


On May 30, the Myanmar Army’s 264th Infantry Battalion fired 155mm artillery shells from its base in Pe Nwe Kone into Wai Daw Kho village, according to a June 1 report by the Karen Peace Support Network.


One of the shells exploded inside the village, instantly killing the 9-year-old boy, his 45-year-old mother, and his 47-year-old father. The blast also injured an 18-year-old woman and destroyed a local home.
