Humanitarian needs have grown urgent in Magway Region after more than 10,000 civilians fled their villages in the past month, fearing the approach of an enormous junta convoy making its way through Pakokku Township, locals and aid volunteers said.
Having left an army base in Pakokku in the last week of May, the convoy—which is reportedly made up of more than 100 vehicles carrying hundreds of junta personnel—is now advancing through villages west of Kamma, a large village some 15 miles northwest of Pakokku.
