Thai FM meets Min Aung Hlaing in Naypyidaw, agrees to expand border cooperation

Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow visited Myanmar on 23 April and held talks with junta chief Min Aung Hlaing, agreeing to expand bilateral cooperation across border security, trade, investment, energy, and development.

They also agreed to step up joint efforts to address cross-border challenges such as drug trafficking, online scams, transboundary haze, and river pollution.

Furthermore, the Deputy Prime Minister met with Myanmar Vice President Nyo Saw to promote economic partnership between the two countries, covering areas such as ease of doing business, trade and investment, energy security, and infrastructure and human resource development.

He also held talk with the former Union Minister for Foreign Affairs and Member of the Union Advisory Council of Myanmar, Than Swe, focusing on Thailand-Myanmar relations and Thailand’s role as a bridge to improve Myanmar-ASEAN relations and support sustainable peace in Myanmar.
