Despite navigating harsh and difficult conditions since the coup, the determination of the Myanmar people for democracy and the eradication of the dictatorship remains completely undiminished, as they continue to fight across all fronts. Meanwhile, this daily note highlights the brutal airstrikes by the military junta on civilian targets, illegal crime suppression, and international repercussions.

Military Affairs, Airstrikes, and Domestic Security

In the Rakhine or Arakan region, the military junta’s forces launched successive aerial bombardments on November 1 afternoon targeting four townships under the control of the Arakan Army (AA)—Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Kyaukphyu, and Wi-ra-tan-e (Pauktaw) – destroying the bridge connecting Wat Taung and Pan Phe Chaung villages, as well as a temporary clinic and maternity ward near Ngwe Taung Pauk, resulting in 12 civilian deaths, including a newborn baby, and 32 injuries.

Following clashes on the southern side of Myawaddy Township that caused artillery shells to land on the Thai side, more than 200 local residents protested and made demands, prompting the Royal Thai Air Force to begin patrol flights for border security on November 1.

Shrapnel and blast waves from an airstrike by the Myanmar military targeting a KNU camp across the Salween River hit Mae Sam Lap area in Mae Sot district, Mae Hong Son province, Thailand, damaging 17 buildings including a hospital, houses, and other structures.

Regarding the war crimes committed by the military junta in Thantlang Township, Chin State, victims and legal counsels will make a fresh request on November 3 to initiate an investigation against 10 members of the junta, including Min Aung Hlaing, under Section 17 of the Philippines’ International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Act.

The 2026 Shan State Hluttaw Emergency Meeting (1/2026) was held on November 2, where the appointment of Colonel Kyaw Myo Min Latt as the junta’s Minister of Security and Border Affairs for Shan State was approved.

Weather, Meteorology, and Public Services

Due to the influence of Cyclonic Storm “Moerasu” forming in the Bay of Bengal, rainfall is expected in Tanintharyi, Mon, Karen, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, southern Bago, Shan, and Kayah states. Meteorology departments and the National Unity Government (NUG) have advised farmers to accelerate paddy harvesting and threshing and to prepare canvas sheets in advance.

The Yangon City Development Committee has invited tenders to implement a “Waste to Energy” project to generate electricity and CNG-substitute gas from the over 2,500 tons of waste produced daily at the Htein Pin and Hlaing Thar Yar (Thardar Chaung) dump sites.

Scam Hubs, Crimes, and Rule of Law

In Tachilek, eastern Shan State, 83 Thai nationals (42 men and 41 women) involved in online scam and gambling operations (“Kyaphyant”) were arrested at the Yuwarat Hotel in San Sai (A) Ward, along with 40 laptops and 75 mobile phones.

A Hong Kong court sentenced a Hong Kong beautician, Poon Sum-yi, to four years in prison for tricking two friends and selling them to a KK Park scam hub in Myanmar for US$54,000.

In Madagascar, in cooperation with the US Department of Justice, 13 scam hubs were raided, uncovering a Chinese syndicate that previously operated in Cambodia and trafficked African nationals as well, resulting in the deportation of 148 Chinese nationals back to China.

International News and Geopolitics

The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) of Taiwan reported that 458 Taiwanese nationals have gone missing, been detained, or faced travel restrictions in China, alongside a decline in religious exchanges.

To protect the image of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and control information, the “China-Pakistan Information Corridor” (CPIC) was officially launched in Islamabad.

A cargo ship was fired upon and two oil tankers were hit by mines in the Strait of Hormuz, while the Qatar-bound LNG carrier Al Mayeda carrying liquefied natural gas to Pakistan was also fired upon, drawing condemnation from Qatar and Saudi Arabia as a threat to energy security.

The Taliban authorities expressed concern over Washington’s plans to repatriate over 150 Afghan nationals from the US back to Afghanistan via Pakistan.

Lifestyles, Environment, and Morale

Kananga Newlove, an agricultural farmer from the outskirts of Lusaka, Zambia, voiced his distress as a lack of electricity prevented him from irrigating his crops, leaving his 10-acre farm withered and ruined by extreme heat.

Summary

In summary, as the military junta relentlessly and brutally targets civilians and medical facilities with airstrikes in the Rakhine region, resulting in the deaths of innocent children and people, the repercussions of the conflict continue to spill over into border areas. At the same time, illegal scam hubs and human trafficking rings are being cracked down on regionally, and while the public needs to exercise caution due to the storm’s impact from the Bay of Bengal, geopolitical and energy tensions are escalating internationally.
