Six Civilians Killed, Five Injured in Military Airstrikes on Bago Region

Six local residents, including three children, were killed and five others injured following military airstrikes on villages in Phyu and Htan Tabin townships, Bago Region, on Tuesday.

The airstrikes targeted Bwa Aye Su village in Htan Tabin Township and Sha Pin Chao village in Phyu Township at approximately 12:30 p.m.

According to local residents, the military conducted two separate bombing runs, one around noon and another at 2:00 p.m., despite there being no active fighting in the area at the time.

Witnesses reported that Bwa Aye Su village alone was struck five times. The attacks claimed six lives and left five people wounded. In addition to the human casualties, several livestock were killed during the bombardment.

These strikes follow a previous incident on May 3, where the military reportedly utilized gyrocopters to bomb the villages of Zalokgyi and Pissie. That attack resulted in one civilian death and the destruction of at least 13 homes.

According to data released by the National Unity Government (NUG) and the Ministry of Human Rights, military airstrikes across Myanmar claimed the lives of 118 civilians in April alone.
