Sittwe hospital campus hit by artillery shelling

An incident of fire was reported at a medicine warehouse inside Sittwe General Hospital of Rakhine State. Some artillery fragments fell into the medicine warehouse at around 5 am on 7 March.
Locals informed that the artillery shells were fired from the 12th police battalion targeting Pauktaw locality. However, no one was injured in the incident.
An intense gun fighting between the junta forces and Arakan Army (AA) fighters was reported from the vicinity of Sittwe. The residents could hear the sound of heavy weapons, probably fired by the Sittwe-based battalions and navy personnel.
Now the fighting is getting closer to the capital city, raising concerns among the residents.
On the night of 6 March, the junta’s air forces bombed the Pauktaw locality.
The AA has occupied all the townships in Rakhine State except Sittwe, Kyaukphyu and Manaung.
Currently, the fighting has turned intensive in many villages surrounding Sittwe and Kyaukphyu townships.
