Sittwe-based junta battalion’s artillery shells injure civilian woman from Rathedaung Township

A civilian woman from Rathedaung Township in Rakhine State was reportedly injured after being struck by artillery shells fired by the Myanmar junta army based in Sittwe, the capital of Arakan State.
The individual who sustained injuries is Daw U Ma Sein, aged 60, residing in Nyaung Pinle Village on Moe Se Island in Rathedaung Township, which is situated 20 miles to the north of Sittwe.
On November 26, a battalion from the army based in Sittwe fired at least 20 artillery shells towards Moe Se Island. One of these shells detonated in a field located in Nyaung Pinle Village, as reported by a source close to the AA.
Daw U Ma Sein, who was harvesting rice in the field, suffered injuries to her head and body and is presently undergoing emergency medical care.
On the morning of November 15, the AA announced that an airstrike carried out by the junta air force resulted in the deaths of five civilians and injuries to six others in two villages located in Rathedaung Township, specifically Ba Hta Lay and Nwa Tin Goak, along with damage to five boats.
In Ba Hta Lay Village, three civilians were killed and four sustained injuries, whereas in Nwa Tin Goak Village, two civilians were killed and two were hurt.
On the afternoon of October 30, a drone attack conducted by an army battalion stationed in Sittwe was aimed at Zee Kai Village in Rathedaung Township, leading to the death of 52-year-old U Htun Aye Hlaing and injuries to 22-year-old Ko Phyo Wai Htun and 38-year-old U Maung Maung Htay.
The Arakan Army (AA) seized control of the entire Rathedaung Township on March 17, 2024.
