Secretariat and interim committee discuss the establishment of SCEF Women’s Representation Pillar

The Secretariat of the Steering Council for the Emergence of a Federal Democratic Union (SCEF) and the Interim Committee, composed of women’s political organizations, held a meeting on 19 September to discuss the implementation of the SCEF Women’s Representation Pillar, according to a statement released by SCEF 21 September.

The meeting was attended by members of the SCEF Secretariat, representatives from the Interim Committee for the Establishment of the SCEF Women’s Representation Pillar (formed by women’s political organizations), members of the SCEF Policy Advisory Team, and other responsible officials.

During the meeting, SCEF Secretariat Coordinator Dr. Zaw Wai Soe delivered the opening remarks. Following this, Daw Zu Padonma from the SCEF Secretariat, along with Daw Aye Saung and Naw Hser Hser from the Interim Committee, presented the prepared plans and points regarding the formation of the women’s pillar.

Attendees then engaged in interactive discussions on the presentations regarding the women’s representation pillar.

Based on the discussions, it was agreed that the SCEF Women’s Representation Pillar would include representatives selected and delegated by the Women’s League of Burma (WLB) and coalitions of women’s political organizations, serving as organization-based representation.

Participants also agreed to continue discussions on matters requiring further coordination.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Naw Hser Hser from the Interim Committee for the Establishment of the SCEF Women’s Representation Pillar, and Pu Ram Kulh Cung, Associate Coordinator of the SCEF Secretariat, delivered closing remarks.
