Revolutionary allied forces seize Myanmar junta camp in Lewe, Naypyidaw Territory, killing 10 including a major

A joint force of revolutionary groups successfully captured and destroyed a military junta camp stationed within a monastery in Aung Chan Thar Ywar Thit village, Lewe Township, on the morning of 22 April.

The 15-minute assault on the Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 411 camp began at 5:00 am on 22 April. It resulted in more than 10 junta casualties, including the death of Major Tun Tun Lin. Lieutenant Colonel Than Nyein and several other personnel abandoned the camp and fled, according to the Northern Thandaung military official.

“The seizure took only about 15 minutes, and we were able to completely capture and destroy the camp. Major Tun Tun Lin was shot dead, while Lieutenant Colonel Than Nyein and some followers abandoned the base and escaped,” a Northern Thandaung military official said.

The camp, situated on the border between Kayin State and Naypyidaw Council Territory, served as a defensive post for Naypyidaw with approximately 40 junta personnel based there. The official noted that the base was seized while a portion of the troops was out on morning patrol.

One MA-9 rifle, one MA-3 rifle, and two MA-11 rifles were reportedly seized during the clash. Mizzima has not been able to independently verify the exact number of junta casualties.

Following the camp’s capture, junta forces have been advancing into northern areas of Thandaung with a large number of troops, leading to potential upcoming clashes.

The attack on the Aung Chan Thar joint camp was a collaborative effort by Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Brigade 2, Karen National Defence Organisation (KNDO) Battalion 4 Company 3, Special Battalion 1, KNLA Battalion 29, and other allied forces.

Previously, on 10 January, the Wayazain Force another revolutionary group attacked a junta checkpoint collecting tolls at Nanthacho Creek, Aung Chan Thar village, Thit Kyane village tract in Lewe Township, resulting in the death of one junta soldier.
