Quake kills 16, destroys two buildings at Yadanar Theingi Education Center in Sagaing Hill

The earthquake destroyed a six-story building and a five-story building at the Yadanar Theingi Education Center in Thawtapang Ward, Sagaing Hill, killing 16 people, sources said.

"Our school is located on the Sagaing Hill and Minwun Hill. It is located on an earthquake fault. When the earthquake started, it collapsed. There was no time to do anything. There was no time to run. At that time, a total of 16 people including students and families of displaced people died. Four are being treated at Mandalay General Hospital for injuries. One of them had to have his leg amputated. Now, donations are coming in but we still don't have water," said the head of the education center.
