In Somo Pray Soe Leh (also known as Shan Daw) town in Karenni State, the number of pregnant women is reportedly rising, and many are facing serious challenges during childbirth due to poor road conditions in the rainy season. These women must travel long distances to reach clinics located far from their villages, and both mothers and babies face heightened risks during the transfer due to difficult and unsafe travel conditions.
A health worker in Somo Pray Soe Leh Township explained that patient transfers have become increasingly difficult during the rainy season, as vehicles often cannot reach the villages due to muddy and impassable roads.
