PNLA Says PNO Bombed with Drones and Burned Down Entire Village in Mawkmai Township

In southern Shan State, Mawkmai Township, the village of Chinn Hnin in the Kadu Gyi village tract was attacked by the Pa-O National Organization (PNO) troops under the control of the military junta by using drone bombing, and they also burned down the entire village, according to the Pa-O National Liberation Army (PNLA).

Due to ongoing conflict, villagers had previously fled the area. However, the PNO later ordered them to return to their homes. When the villagers returned, the PNO carried out drone bombings again, forcing the residents to flee once more, according to PNLA spokesperson Khun Rein Yan, who told Kantarawaddy Time.

“The PNO ordered the villagers to return and live in the village. They went back due to fear. But once everyone had returned, the PNO bombed the village. After the bombing, the villagers had to flee again,” Khun Rein Yan said.

Furthermore, citing statements from locals who fled, Khun Rein Yam said that after ordering people to return to the village, they were also forced to cook meals for the PNO troops.

On January 19, the Pa-O National Liberation Army (PNLA) released video footage in which villagers described how the PNO burned and destroyed the entire village.

Khun Rein Yan further stated that the burning and destruction of civilian homes and the village clearly show that the PNO’s actions were deliberately oppressing and abusing the civilian population.

“They burned and destroyed people’s homes and property, bombed them with drones, forced civilians to return to the village, and then bombed them again once they were there. This clearly shows that they are intentionally torturing and killing civilians,” he said.

The village was burned down during the first week of January. The village had more than 10 houses and a population of around 60 people. At present, the villagers are displaced to other locations.
