Over 20 innocent young Rakhine people detained in four days in Sittwe

On suspicion of Arakan Army (AA) forces entering the city, more than 20 innocent Arakanese teenagers were detained daily in Sittwe, the capital of Rakhine State, during the four days of August 2–5, when the prospect of war was again looming.
According to a source who has been closely monitoring the arrests, the Narinjara news agency reported that a total of 23 people were detained, including 5 on August 5, 13 on August 4, 3 on August 3, and 2 on August 2, and that more arrests may be made.
According to a local witness, soldiers broke into the Ywar Gyi Mrauk ward area of Sittwe at around 9 p.m. on August 5 and handcuffed five young men in their twenties.
