Octogenarian IDP killed, 2 others injured in Kyaukphyu bombing

The Myanmar junta forces dropped five bombs on a village in Kyaukphyu township of Rakhine State on 2 February at around 5 pm and it resulted in the death of a 85-year-old IDP and injuries to two others.


The deceased has been identified as U Khine Aung, hailing from Nga/Puchwein village under Kyaukphyu locality.


The injured individuals are U Khin Maung Chey (60) and U Thein Kyaw Nu (65) who hail from Mawgyi village.


U Khine Aung died on the spot where U Khin Maung Chey sustained injuries on his left elbow and U Thein Kyaw Nu was hit on the right thigh.


The house of U Maung Soe Lwin and U Soe Win Htun in Mawgyi village was also damaged by the bomb explosion.


The incident followed previous attacks by the junta air forces on 24 January, when a school in Maung village under Zin Chaung township of Kyaukphyu locality was bombed with two suicide drones, resulting in the death of two IDPs and injuries to five others including a nine-month-old baby.


Furthermore on 14 January, the junta air forces bombed an IDP camp near Kyauk Ka Lay village in Kyaukphyu locality killing two women and injuring three others.


The military commission has been conducting aerial bombardments and drone strikes on areas where displaced people are currently residing Kyaukphyu locality killing at least 10 civilians and injuring 11 others from 18 January to 2 February.
