No elections to be held in 2931 ward and village tracts in Phases 1 and 2

The Union Election Commission announced on December 5 that elections will not be held in 2931 ward and village tracts in the townships that will be held in Phases 1 and 2.

The upcoming general election will be held on December 28, 2025 and January 11, 2026, respectively. It was announced that elections could not be held in 161 wards and 2,770 village tracts, a total of 2,931 wards and village tracts in 202 townships where elections are scheduled to be held in Part (1) and Part (2).

The wards and village tracts that will not be held in 106 in Kachin State, 51 in Kayah State, 156 in Kayin State, 86 in Chin State, 902 in Sagaing Region, 83 in Tanintharyi Region, 197 in Bago Region, 687 in Magway Region, 236 in Mandalay Region, 140 in Mon State, 71 in Rakhine State, 212 in Shan State and four in Ayeyarwady Region, totaling 2931.
