The National League for Democracy (NLD) and the National Unity Government (NUG) have issued formal statements cautioning the international community against viewing the recent meeting between jailed State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) as a sign of genuine progress in resolving Myanmar’s crisis.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the NLD emphasized that a single humanitarian visit does not indicate structural change, calling for full legal counsel, family access, safety, and unrestricted communication for the families of all political prisoners in Myanmar.
