Nine Massacres in Two Months Unmask Reality Behind Myanmar’s Rebranded Regime

Myanmar’s military regime has conducted another nine massacres in just two months since rebranding as a pseudo-civilian government under putschist president Min Aung Hlaing, killing at least 100 civilians and injuring 26 others, according to data collected by The Irrawaddy.

Meanwhile, regime forces have maintained their scorched-earth campaign of looting and arson, destroying more than 1,000 houses and forcing tens of thousands to flee their homes.

Fresh mass killings were reported across five states and regions between April 10 and June 1. Three atrocities were documented in Chin State, two each in Karen, Sagaing, and Magwe, and one in Mandalay.

The pattern of military attacks on civilians in resistance-held areas has continued since the regime took office on April 10 following junta-held elections widely dismissed as a sham.
