Nearly 40 Civilians Killed and 90 Injured in Arakan State Within One Month Due to Terrorist Military Council Airstrikes

According to uniquely compiled data, airstrikes by the military dictatorship forces killed 37 civilians and injured 90 others in one month, from August 1 to August 31, across five townships in Arakan including Paletwa Township areas controlled by the Arakan Army (AA).

According to statements released by the Arakan Army, the townships impacted by deaths and injuries due to the military dictatorship's airstrikes include Gwa, Thandwe, Ann, Mrauk-U, and Rathedaung townships in Arakan.

During these raids, the military deployed between 3 and 10 aircraft per attack, dropping anywhere from at least 10 bombs to over 100 bombs at a time.

Among those killed by the military dictatorship's airstrikes, Thandwe Township suffered the highest casualties with 19 deaths, followed by Gwa Township with 8 deaths, Ann Township with 2 deaths, and Paletwa Township in Chin State with 8 deaths.

Thandwe Township also recorded the highest number of injuries, with 40 people wounded. Paletwa Township saw the second-highest number of injuries with 33 wounded, while Gwa Township recorded 9, Mrauk-U Township recorded 4, Ann Township recorded 3, and Rathedaung Township recorded 1 injured person.

The deceased included 8 children, 20 women, 8 men, and 6 individuals whose gender could not be precisely identified. Among the injured were 18 children, 14 women, 17 men, and 39 individuals whose gender remains unidentified.

Casualties from the military dictatorship's airstrikes in August surged compared to July, seeing an increase of 16 more deaths and 22 more injuries.

Thandwe Township has been the most targeted by the military dictatorship's airstrikes, recording the highest number of deaths and injuries over the past two months. Local residents report that they are currently living their daily lives in constant fear.

Throughout August, the military dictatorship deployed larger formations of aircraft and dropped record-breaking numbers of bombs amounting to hundreds when bombing towns and villages across Arakan compared to previous months.

Because some airstrikes exhibited symptoms suspected to be caused by chemical weapons, the Arakha People's Health Department had to issue a public health warning regarding the dangers of chemical bombs.

The military dictatorship's airstrikes also caused widespread damage to civilian homes, schools, and religious buildings across the targeted townships.

As the military dictatorship forces face continuous defeats in ground encounters with the Arakan Army, they have increasingly targeted civilian areas. Consequently, the AA has urged the public to remain extremely vigilant regarding air raid dangers.
