The Myanmar Women, Peace and Security (M-WPS) Forum released this statement after holding its annual meeting on 21–22 September 2025. The forum called on national, regional, and international actors to take meaningful action to support women’s leadership and involvement in creating a federal democratic future.
The statement from the Myanmar Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Forum 2025 is as follows.
The Myanmar Women, Peace and Security (M-WPS) Forum convened its Women, Peace and Security annual forum on 21–22 September 2025, bringing together 87 delegates including 78 women, 8 men, one woman with disabilities, and one non-binary representative from 31 partner organizations.
Marking the 25th anniversary of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325, participants collectively reflected on Myanmar’s long and difficult road toward peace and gender justice amid turmoil of armed conflict. The forum served as both a moment of critical reflection and a call to action, acknowledging the courage of Myanmar’s women peacebuilders who continue to lead under fire, and demanding accountability from purported international, regional, and national actors whose commitments on delivering on the WPS agenda remain unfulfilled.
