Myanmar Witness releases report analysing online sentiments towards two military operations

Myanmar Witness announced the release of a new report on 22 February exploring the online sentiments of social media users towards two important military operations in Myanmar in 2024.

According to Myanmar Witness, the report provides an analysis of Burmese language sentiments on TikTok and YouTube regarding two key military operations. The   first operation is the Three Brotherhood Alliance-led Operation 1027 which began in October 2023 in northern Shan State. The second operation is the Myanmar Army Operation Yan Naing Min, started in early September 2024.

Myanmar Witness says the project aims to “understand how users express their opinions and emotions about these events.” The research sought to discover patterns in engagement online between pro-military and anti-SAC actors in their social media interactions regarding these operations.
