The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) claims it shot down a Myanmar Air Force jet carrying out retaliatory airstrikes against its forces before it crashed into a monastery in Sabarse village of Palel Township, Sagaing Region, on Tuesday.
The regime blamed a “technical malfunction” for the jet’s crash. Palel is located 39 miles (62 km) southwest of the region’s capital Monywa, where the regime’s Northwestern Regional Military Command (RMC) is headquartered.
Ni Ni Kyaw, the PLA General Secretary, confirmed the claim to DVB but didn’t disclose the exact number of casualties. PLA forces have been attempting to seize the regime’s police station in Kandaung village of Palel Township since June 2.
