Four captives, including a military captain serving as a medical officer, were killed in a Myanmar junta airstrike in Maungdaw Township near the Bangladesh border on Tuesday, according to ULA/AA prison officials.

A prison official reported that the captain was a medical officer assigned to treat inmates, while the other three casualties were militants.

The Myanmar military dropped 33 heavy bombs weighing 500 pounds each during six airstrikes on Kyin Chaung Prison in northern Maungdaw Township, which is operated by the Arakan Army (AA).

The junta conducted these strikes between 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on July 2, 2026.

Several buildings were heavily damaged in what was described as a deliberate and inhumane bombing.
