Airstrikes in Rakhine State have intensified following the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ informal meeting in Bangkok on July 12, which called on the Myanmar military to reduce violence.

Two civilians were injured in a Burmese military bombing on July 15 in Manaw Thiri village, located in Pauktaw Township, 15 miles from the Arakan State capital of Sittwe.

The injured civilians were Ma Hnin Soe (26) from Manaw Thiri village and U Khin Tun Win (52) from Nga Khubya village.

A Myanmar Air Force jet fighter struck Manaw Thiri village in two separate attacks. The first strike happened at around 7:20 p.m. at the village harbor. Ten minutes later, at 7:30 p.m., two bombs were dropped on the village.

As a result of the bombing, Ma Hnin Soe and U Khin Tun Win suffered injuries to the left hand and head, respectively. Both are currently receiving medical treatment. U Khin Tun Win was injured while visiting his married daughter in Manaw Thiri.

The Burmese military is actively targeting Rakhine State from the air, carrying out indiscriminate attacks on towns, villages, and neighborhoods where civilians live.

Similarly, a jet fighter bombed Gwa Township twice on July 15, at around 2:30 p.m.
