Myanmar military airstrike kills elderly couple in Kyaukkyi Township, forces entire village to flee

A junta airstrike on Nyaungpintha village in Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region, killed two elderly civilians and forced the entire village to evacuate, according to the Yangon Rangers.


The attack occurred on the morning of 13 May, despite no clashes being reported in the area.

At around 10:25 am, military aircraft dropped a 500-pound bomb and fired machine guns on the northern part of Nyaungpintha village, killing 80-year-old U Kyi Aung and his 72-year-old wife.


Another resident was injured, and two homes along with a monastery were damaged in the strike.
