Myanmar’s military regime has dispatched two former high-ranking Air Force officers as its new ambassadors to China and Russia, its key allies and arms suppliers.
Lt-Gen. Zaw Win Myint, ex-Air Force chief of staff, was appointed ambassador to China in the first week of January.
Former Air Defense Forces chief Lt Gen Myo Moe Aung—nephew of General Maung Aye, former No 2 in the previous junta—was dispatched as the regime’s Russian envoy around the same time.
