Myanmar Junta Imposes Twice-Weekly Refill Limit as Fuel Pumps Run Dry

Myanmar’s military regime tightened fuel restrictions on Sunday, limiting motorists to a maximum of two refueling trips per week. The new weekly limit replaces the existing “odd-even” rationing system and will take effect in the coming weeks, said the junta’s Information Ministry.
The regime also ordered all government staff to work from home every Wednesday, in a further sign of the deepening fuel crisis.
“It looks like the junta is tightening fuel rationing,” said a Yangon resident. She predicted the new restrictions would only add to the chaos at filling stations, where motorists are already struggling with soaring prices and a flawed digital rationing system.
