The Myanmar junta military is said to have amputated the fingers and ears of four youths with knives while questioning them in Pauk Township, Magway Region.

The disfigured persons are Ko Phyo Wai Zaw, aged 20; Ko Khaing Lin Aung, also 20 years old; Ko Min Khant Zaw, who is 18; and Ko Phan Win, who is 25 years old, all hailing from Tae Pin Village in Pauk Township.

A column of approximately 200 soldiers from Kapasa (24), known as the military weapons manufacturing facilities for the junta (Directorate of Defence Industries Factory No. 24), raided Tae Pin Village and Ma Kyigon Village, located southwest of Pauk Township, on October 29, and abducted four young individuals.

“Four civilians were subjected to torture and interrogated; three of them had their hands bound behind them, and their fingers were severed. One civilian had his ear severed due to his stuttering,” the Magway Region People’s Defense Force stated on December 5.

Following the mutilation, the terrorist army employed the four young men as “human shields” at the front of their column as they moved northward into Pauk Township.

They were released in Nga Phaung Kan Village, Pakokku Township, on November 29, as no landmines were detected during the advance of the military column.

The Magway Region People's Defense Force further articulated that the disfigurement of the four young civilians, along with their assessment, constitutes an atrocious war crime perpetrated by the terrorist military.
