Myanmar Junta Airstrikes Hit Gwa Township Again, Injuring Six

Six civilians, including three teenagers, were injured during Myanmar junta military airstrikes on Ye Kyaw village and Kyintali town in Gwa Township.
The violence comes as fierce fighting escalates between the military and the Arakan Army near the Ayeyarwady Division border. All six victims are currently receiving medical treatment for their wounds.
Five residents were injured during a bombing raid on Ye Kyaw village. The victims have been identified as 10-year-old Maung Htet Myat Thu, 13-year-old Ma Su Myat Mon, 35-year-old U San Min, 45-year-old U Wai Ya Min, and 75-year-old U Pho Ni.
An additional victim, 18-year-old Ma Saung Hay Man Khin from Ward No. 2 in Kyintali town, sustained severe head injuries during a separate strike.
At around 3 pm on June 26, a Myanmar military jet fighter jet bombed in Ye Kyaw village,A local resident was quoted as saying that a 500-pound bomb was dropped on the monastery and a 300-pound bomb was dropped on the school.
Just ten minutes later, at 3:10 p.m., another jet dropped two 500-pound bombs on Ward No. 2 in Kyintali town, injuring a local resident named Ma Saung Hay Man Khin.
This raid is part of a pattern of intensifying aerial attacks in the region.
On June 23, two airstrikes on Kankaw Taung village in Gwa Township injured four residents. Prior to that, on June 20, two 500-pound bombs hit Science Street and Kenari Street in Kyintali's Ward No. 2, injuring two locals.
Military analysts state that these repeated bombardments on civilian areas are retaliatory measures by the junta.
The strikes follow the military's failure to reclaim Gwa Township from Arakan Army (AA).
