Myanmar Air Force bombs Nyaungni village as regime counteroffensive targets strategic Momeik–Mabein corridor

The Myanmar Air Force conducted airstrikes on Nyaungni village in northern Shan State’s Momeik Township, Aug. 11–12, amid intense ground fighting between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and regime forces. While no casualties were reported from the airstrikes, heavy clashes forced dozens of residents to flee Nyaungni for relative safety in Momeik town.

Ground fighting erupted when a regime column of approximately 150 troops launched an advance near Nyaungni village—located two miles north of Momeik—attempting to push toward KIA-controlled Mabein Township, BNI reported.
