Mrauk U Hospital Reconstruction: Maungdaw Muslims Donate 50 Million Kyats

Muslims from Maungdaw Township have donated 50 million kyats for the reconstruction of the Mrauk-U People's General Hospital, which was destroyed by junta airstrikes, where people of various ethnicities were receiving treatment, according to reports.

The donation ceremony took place yesterday, February 8, in Mrauk-U District. It was attended by senior officials from the district administration department, responsible personnel from the Arakkha Health Department, Muslim religious leaders from Maungdaw District, Maungdaw jury elders, and local Muslim religious leaders. The 50 million kyats donation was handed over to officials from the Arakkha Health Department.

Additionally, Muslim religious leaders from Mrauk U and Kyauktaw are also planning to provide donation funds for the reconstruction of the Mrauk U People's Hospital.

The military council army carried out an airstrike on December 10, 2025—International Human Rights Day—on the Mrauk-U People's General Hospital, where civilians were receiving medical treatment. In that bombing attack, 33 innocent civilians, including children and patients, were killed, while 76 others sustained serious injuries, and the hospital was also destroyed.
