Min Aung Hlaing sets July deadline for PDF members to surrender as part of 100-day peace initiative

During a 20 April Union Government meeting in Naypyidaw, Min Aung Hlaing issued a formal invitation for members of the People’s Defence Forces (PDF) to return to the legal fold by 31 July, a date marking the 100th day of his new administration.

He claimed that various groups and individuals within the resistance have already surrendered or are currently requesting negotiations to do so, prompting him to designate this specific timeframe for their return to achieve national peace.

The meeting, which included vice presidents, union ministers, and regional chief ministers, focused on the administration’s strategy to dismantle resistance movements by encouraging surrenders during this transition period.

This latest call for the legal return of opposition forces follows his transition into a civilian presidential role and emphasizes his quasi-government’s intent to consolidate control under the newly formed administration.
