Military reasserts control over Mandalay-Madaya-Singu-Thabeikkyin route


The Mandalay-Madaya-Singu-Thabeikkyin communication route, which was controlled by the PDFs, has been reopened by the Tatmadaw, according to sources.


PDF insurgent groups have entered Mandalay Region’s Madaya, Singu, and Thabeikkyin townships, disrupting and blocking communication routes, arresting travellers, asking for bribes, entering homes and forcibly taking public property, burning down state-owned factories and workshops, forcibly extracting and using state-owned land and underground resources for personal gain, using people’s homes, factories, workshops, and buildings as fortified positions, establishing temporary settlements, and opening gates on major communication routes to collect money from local residents and travellers. As a result, the Tatmadaw have carried out the Counter-Terrorism Operation (CTO) systematically, with the necessary preparations and support from the local people, the Tatmadaw were able to completely regain control of Thabeikkyin Township and its surrounding areas, which were temporarily under the control of terrorist insurgent groups, on July 23, 2025, the Phayongtaung Mining Area in Madaya Township on August 24, the Alpha Cement Factory area on August 28, the Si Dawgyi Village and reservoir on November 7, and the Singu Township and its surrounding areas on December 19.
