Military Commission Launches Airstrike on Phet Kya Village; Administrator Severely Injured and Home Burned

A military commission airstrike targeted Phet Kya Village in Ponnagyun Township, Rakhine State, striking the village administrator's house. The attack resulted in severe injuries to the administrator and burned his home to the ground.

The incident occurred on September 17, when the military commission force launched an attack from the air.

As a result of the airstrike, 40-year-old village administrator U Aung Myint Naing sustained severe injuries. His residence, along with a farming tractor and stored paddy rice, was completely destroyed by fire.

Due to continuous airstrikes and heavy artillery bombardments by the military commission on residential villages unrelated to active combat in Ponnagyun Township, residents from over 20 villages including Kwam Taung, Sa Par Htar, Pa Day Thar, Sin In Gyi, Phet Kya, and Di Par Yon have been forced to flee to safer areas.

Additionally, on September 17, the military commission forces bombarded Mrauk-U with two jet fighters for two hours.

Currently, the military commission forces have been intensifying attacks via air, sea, and heavy artillery since the first week of September in an effort to recapture Ponnagyun, leading to ongoing clashes with the Arakha Army (AA).
