Shaken by a deadly earthquake that tore through central Myanmar, Mandalay residents are pleading for urgent building safety inspections as aftershocks keep them from returning home.
A 5.5-magnitude aftershock struck Wundwin Township in Myanmar’s Mandalay Region on April 13, triggering more building collapses in Chanayethazan and Aungmyaythazan townships, though no deaths were reported.
Mandalay, with its many high-rise buildings and dense population, suffered particularly high casualties and damage. Today, safe shelter remains out of reach.
