Malaysian PM praises significant Myanmar progress at ASEAN summit


Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Monday praised “significant” steps towards engaging the conflicting parties in Myanmar, as Southeast Asian leaders convened to tackle the prolonged conflict


Myanmar has been engulfed in turmoil since its military toppled the elected civilian government of Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi in 2021, sparking pro-democracy protests that escalated into a broader rebellion and conflict. The United Nations reports over 3.5 million people have been displaced.
