Malaysia urges all Myanmar groups to create conducive environment for election

Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan on Wednesday urged all parties in Myanmar to create a conducive environment for an election.

Mohamad was addressing a meeting of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Foreign Ministers in the Malaysian capital. It was unclear whether his remarks indicate ASEAN chair Malaysia is endorsing the regime-planned election in Myanmar, which it has previously said should not be prioritized over peace.
