Civilians in Kyaukphyu, Rakhine State, are experiencing severe food shortages amid ongoing clashes between the Arakan Army (AA) and junta forces. Rising prices and blocked supply routes make basic necessities increasingly unaffordable, according to local residents.
The food crisis has worsened due to the closure of most local shops and the absence of regular cargo ships from Yangon, which have not docked since May.
Prices of essential items have surged dramatically over the past month. Coarse rice, which once sold for 700 kyats per tin (about 2 kilograms), now costs 1,400 kyats.
