KNU Says Regime Column Wiped Out in Clash Near Lay Kay Kaw

A regime military column pushing forward east of the Dawna Mountain Range was almost entirely wiped out by the Karen National Union (KNU)’s military wing, the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), and allied resistance groups on Monday, the ethnic armed organization said in a report issued the same day.

The group said troops from the regime’s Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 203 and 210, under Division 22, had advanced into territory controlled by KNU Brigade 6 on Monday, triggering a fierce clash with Karen resistance groups under the command of KNLA Colonel Saw Dar Baw. Among the casualties was a regime commander-level officer from LIB 203.

The report said several weapons and some ammunition was seized, while the bodies of many killed regime soldiers were left behind. Precise casualty figures are not yet known.
