KNU/KNLA recaptures camps including Te Baw Boe camp near Thai-Myanmar border; just four camps remain to be retaken

The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) has reportedly regained control of the well-known Te Baw Boe army camp along the Myanmar-Thai border, after 28 years. In 1997, the Myanmar military took control of KNU’s Te Baw Boe camp.
The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) carried out an assault on the Te Baw Boe military camp located on the Thai-Myanmar border in Myawaddy Township, Karen State, on the evening of June 3.
The Karen National Union (KNU) announced in a press release on June 4, “The Te Baw Boe camp, occupied by the military council since 1997 in the Kawthule Administrative Region, Doo Pla Ya District, Brigade (6), Kawkareik Township, was reclaimed by the Karen National Liberation Army (K.N.L.A.), Karen National Defense Force (K.N.D.O.) and People’s Defense Force (P.D.F.), under the leadership of Brigade (6) on June 3, 2025 at (11:00 p.m.).”
