Junta forces bomb now AA controlled Buthidaung military headquarters

The junta air force personnel bombed the former headquarters of its 15th regional operations command (SaKhaKa), now under the control of Arakan Army (AA) in Buthidaung township of northern Rakhine State on 6 February.


According to local residents, who heard a loud explosion, the bombing was carried out by a jet fighter at around 8:30 pm on Friday.


"We heard a crash at around 8:30 pm. The bomb was dropped over the building in SaKhaKa 15 compound. It was heavy and the sound of an explosion was heard from several miles away," said a local resident.


The details on casualties and damages, caused by the bombing, are yet to be known. The explosion was heard in Maungdaw locality near the Bangladesh border. The locals were in a panic, added the resident.


The Buthidaung 15th SaKhaKa is located on Rathedaung-Buthidaung road, about three miles away from the downtown area. It was captured by AA fighters on 2 May 2024.
