The military regime has hailed what it calls the largest drug and precursor seizure in Myanmar’s history, crediting Chinese cooperation and intelligence-sharing for uncovering the haul in northern Shan State.
Junta spokesman Zaw Min Tun told reporters Wednesday that raids in Hsipaw and Mongyai townships on Jan. 9–11 netted narcotics and precursor chemicals worth more than 1.6 trillion kyat (US$ 381 million).
Officials displayed pill presses, packaging machines, Starlink devices, and uniforms of the rogue Shan State Army. The spokesman claimed suspects with links to scam operations were also arrested as part of the drug bust but gave no details
