The military junta attacked the Min Krung Chaung bridge near Kyaukphyu using two gyrocopters on July 14, according to AA-associated media.
The airstrike targeted the bridge construction site, which is located along the highway connecting Ramree, Ma Ei, and Taungup in Rakhine State.
At approximately 3:00 p.m., two gyrocopters deployed from a junta navy vessel anchored in Kyaukphyu Township's Thanzi River dropped four bombs near the structure.
Local residents reported that the bombs detonated on both sides of the bridge, which is currently under construction.
Locals believe the military is deliberately destroying transport infrastructure to isolate communities amid heavy ongoing clashes and mounting junta casualties in the region.
The airstrike follows a recent battle near Awa Taung village, close to the Taung Maw military base, where a Myanmar military offensive column was forced to retreat. The junta suffered heavy casualties and left behind the bodies of fallen soldiers.
Military sources indicate that China's diplomatic stance heavily influences the Kyaukphyu conflict.
The Chinese government has requested that the Arakan Army (AA) refrain from attacking downtown Kyaukphyu or launching offensives against local Myanmar military bases in order to protect Chinese economic projects. Consequently, the AA has engaged in only limited combat operations.
Conversely, Beijing has not restricted the Myanmar military's offensive actions against the AA and has reportedly supplied the junta with advanced military hardware, including modern drones.
